Abu Dhabi Art is the UAE capital’s flagship international art fair, held annually at Manarat Al Saadiyat on Saadiyat Island. Since its first edition in 2009, the fair has grown into one of the most significant platforms for contemporary art in the Arab world, bringing together galleries from across the Middle East, Africa, Asia, and Europe under one roof.

The 2026 edition runs 18–22 November, with a VIP preview on 18 November and public days from 19–22 November. The fair typically features around 90 to 100 participating galleries, spanning major international names alongside regional galleries representing Emirati, Arab, and South Asian artists. There is a genuine commitment to nurturing emerging voices from the Global South, which gives the fair a different character from purely commercial events.

What to expect on the floor

Beyond the main gallery booths, a curated special projects section runs throughout the fair. This typically includes large-scale installations and site-specific commissions that go well beyond the standard booth format. Programming runs alongside the main floor: panel discussions, curator-led walkthroughs, and artist talks are usually scheduled across all public days.

The venue, Manarat Al Saadiyat, sits beside the Louvre Abu Dhabi on Saadiyat Island. The broader cultural district makes the fair easy to combine with a visit to the Louvre or a walk along Saadiyat Beach.

Tickets and access

VIP preview access requires invitation or accreditation through participating galleries. Public day tickets are typically priced at approximately AED 50–75 per person, with reduced rates for students and free entry for children under 12. Verify current pricing at abudhabiart.ae before visiting, as ticket structures change between editions. The fair often runs free late-opening evenings on select days — check the programme for details.

Getting there

Saadiyat Island is roughly 25 minutes from central Abu Dhabi by taxi. From the city centre, expect to pay approximately AED 30–40 one way. There is no direct metro or bus connection to the island; taxis and ride-hailing apps (Careem, Uber) are the most practical options. Limited on-site parking is available for those driving.

Practical tips

Dress is smart casual. Comfortable shoes matter: the venue covers substantial floor space and most visitors spend two to three hours inside. November temperatures in Abu Dhabi sit around 25–28°C, so no heavy layers are needed. Arriving early on opening day avoids queues; midweek afternoons tend to be quieter than weekends.
